Asbestos legislation: Changes under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012

It’s a legal duty for all businesses to manage and keep a Register of any asbestos containing materials (ACM’s) in their premises. A Duty Holder (ie: the organisation using the building) is legally obliged to manage any potential risk to employees and contractors from asbestos exposure. Under the new 2012 Regulations, definitions of some asbestos materials have changed. There is also a new category of works defined as notifiable non-licensed works. These changes will alter working methods and maintenance programmes for Duty Holders.
